ECM: Brave New World

This post over at Sometimes It's Peaceful is another must read.

And just in case anyone missed this thread, why not listen to what Aldous Huxley himself had to say in 1962? (with thanks to Amy for originally posting this link)

"There will be, in the next generation or so, a pharmacological method of making people love their servitude, and producing dictatorship without tears, so to speak, producing a kind of painless concentration camp for entire societies, so that people will in fact have their liberties taken away from them, but will rather enjoy it, because they will be distracted from any desire to rebel by propaganda or brainwashing, or brainwashing enhanced by pharmacological methods. And this seems to be the final revolution.”

The worrying thing is, you'll probably get some folk who'll read it and think "what's wrong with that?"

Just shows you what kind of prejudice we're up against:(

Do you think children's centre manager's children ever encounter problems at school;)

Who knows? Maybe the poor kids are so thoroughly institutionalised they don't even notice

I do know that if the buggers attempt to 'identify and entice' this low income, lone parent, hard to reach, home educating family they will be told precisely where to stick their daycare.

How dare they suggest that anyone is better qualified to raise my child than I am? This is exactly the attitude that is behind the underclass, scum and chav talk in the tabloids. The language is different, but mentality behind it is precisely the same; that some people are just better than others, and have a god-given right to tell everyone else how to live.
